STI-HSS Taps

A Perma-Coil tang break-off tool automatically removes the tanged part of the insert which might interfere with the end of the assembled bolt. Having a spring loaded punch that strikes a sharp blow against the tang of the installed insert, the tanged portion breaks off at the notch, leaving a clean, unobstructed assembly. Tang break-off tools are available for insert sizes 2-56 – ½” and M2 – M12. Use long nose pliers for larger sizes and bend the tang up and down to snap off at the notch.
